Races:These trail runs are on the Willis River Trail in Cumberland, Virginia. The approximate 16 mile trail passes through the Piedmont Hills of Cumberland State Forest and Bear Creek Lake State Park. The runs are 80% trail and they do not have any significant elevation changes but crosses up to a dozen creeks and have numerous short hills. There will be a 7 ½ hour cut off time for the 50K based on the runners arrival at the 35K aid station in 5 hours. (There will be aid stations about every 5 miles ). The best times for the runs are as follows: 3:05 by William Potts and 3:38 by Candice Odgers for the 35K in 2004; 5:16 by Christopher Calfee and 5:26 by Jenn Shelton for the 50K in 2004.
Grand Prix: This is a Richmond Road Runners Club Grand Prix Race. Each year the club runs a series of races and members collect points by placing or volunteering at the events. At the end of the year the male and female winners are announced as the Grand Prix Champions at the club’s annual banquet.
 
 
 
 
Place: The race takes place at Bear Creek Lake State Park in Cumberland, Virginia. It is about 45 minutes west of Richmond off of Route 60.
 
Course:The course is an out and back on trails climbing small hills and crossing streams.
 
Aid Stations: There will be aid stations about ever 5 miles.
 
Registration: Registration is limited to 150 because of parking. Pre-registration by mail through January 13th. Online registration closes 11:59 pm January 16th.
 
Pre-Entry Fees (1/13):
$10 for RRRC members
$15 for all others
 
Day of Race Fees:
$15 for RRRC members
$20 for all others
 
Packet Pick-up:Will open at 7 am on the day of the race.
 
Parking: Because of park logistics, runners must pay the honor parking fee upon arrival.
 
Timing: The race will be computer timed by the Richmond Road Runners Club.  Results will be posted on the club’s web page. There will be a 7 ½ hour cut off time for the 50K based on the runners arrival at the 35K aid station in 5 hours
 
Prizes/Awards:Long sleeve t-shirts to first 50 entries. The top three overall male and female finishers will receive prizes/awards. No age group awards. Random prizes complements of Runner Bill’s Sports.
